Diego María de la Concepción Juan Nepomuceno Estanislao de la Rivera y Barrientos Acosta y Rodríguez, known as Diego Rivera, is a famous Mexican painter. His large frescoes have helped set up a movement of mural painting in Mexican and international art. From 1922 to 1953, Rivera painted murals, among others, in Mexico City, Chapingo and Cuernavaca, Mexico; and San Francisco, Detroit and New York City, USA. In 1931, an exhibition reminiscent of his works was held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York; that was before he completed a series of 27 murals known as the Detroit Industrial Murals. Rivera has had several marriages and children, including at least one biological daughter. Her first child and only son died at the age of two. His fourth wife was Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, with whom he had an unstable relationship that lasted until his death. He was married for the fifth time to his agent.
