Four residents escaped a fire that burned a single-story house Tuesday morning on Kahiapo Place in Haiku, a fire official said.
Firefighters were called to the fire at 9:05 a.m. and arrived to find the residence fully on fire, said Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro. He said the fire was declared under control at about 12:15 p.m.
The cause is under investigation, Yatsushiro said.
Fire companies from Makawao, Paia and Kahului responded to the fire.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the residents, who were displaced.
